Beauty with a Purpose

Beauty ‘with a Purpose’ the Miss World theme, was adopted by Julia Morley Managing Director and International President of Miss World Limited, as a phrase to impress on all our titles holders.

The theme of Beauty With A Purpose is at the heart of Miss World, working tirelessly to raise funds for many good causes over the years. Millions of dollars have been donated to International organisations in aid of children with disadvantages.

However, Beauty With A Purpose does not stop with just the titleholder. National representatives and licence holders are actively encouraged to support worthy projects in their own countries. Part of the brief to contenders in each country is that they volunteer their time or fundraise for projects in their own countries. The Beauty With A Purpose Award singles out and recognises the Miss World contestant who is shown to have made a real difference to people in need .

The Miss World Malta contestants this year have chosen to help children throughout different organisations. Their visits were at Angela House which is the largest Children’s Home on the island run by the Ursuline Sisters sheltering approximately 60 children. Ages vary between three and seventeen.These children are coming from various social environments and have different problems. The contestants also visited Fatima House. These children are surrounded by people who help them develop their skills and talents so as to find their place in society. They are provided with a range of opportunities to mix with other children coming from ‘normal’ family environments. Children living in these Church Homes deserve the best according to their physical, spiritual and emotional needs.

The contestants have enjoyed playing with them and making these children feel happy and important. They presented several gifts and everyday needs to Mother Superior.

So all the contestants competing for the Miss World Malta title here tonight, truly understands that The Miss World organisation does live up to its theme of ‘Beauty With a Purpose’
